It Takes a Community...Building Success One Program at a Time

Food Recovery and Distribution

In our food initiative, our primary activity is to recover, stabilize and distribute food directly to needy people; however we also share food with other area food organizations and churches. Every month We Care Food Pantry recovers or secures food for it's own 2,600 families and helps Citrus County's 38 hunger-fighting agencies through food drives and other food sources.

Homosassa has an ever growing number of homeless people. We provide food to this population and one of our volunteers cooks hot food to deliver to those living in camps in the woods. We also have volunteers delivering food to two groups of people who are not able to come to our facility.

Client Support

We strive to provide more than just a box of food and a smile. We will instruct clients on food preparation, health and hygiene; and provide information about existing public programs and resources. Support can come in the form of a job tip or just a sympathetic ear.

We Care Food Pantry Capital Campaign

A critical project of the We Care Food Pantry was the construction of two 7,200 square foot centralized storage and distribution centers. One distribution center was dedicated to the west side of the County and the second will be accessed and regulated by independent Citrus County agencies, under their own independent board. Complete with freezers, loading docks and storage areas it will be available to serve the Citrus County community for generations to come. We need your help.

New Medical and Dental Programs

In collaboration with the Citrus County Health Department and the We Care Food Pantry, we have been given access to both a dental bus and a mobile walk-in clinic bus two times a month. We can now offer important medical and dental services to our clients.
Medical Equipment Lending Program

We can now offer the availability of a Medical Equipment Lending Program. Two clients received equipment from this program. We Care also offers crutches, canes, walkers and other equipment through our lending program.

We Care Food Pantry, in partnership with Lowe's Hardware and Citrus County Parks and Recreation, came together and donated several decorated Christmas trees to designated families in the area. Lowe's donated and delivered the trees, and local agencies decorated them with "all the trimmings".
